My name is Charlotte, and I’m from Charlotte. Yes, you read that correctly. I was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, and my parents loved the city so much they named me after it. I am 32 years old, have a degree in business and marketing, and run my own business from home. I am also one year sober, and volunteer at a rehabilitation facility, helping others struggling with addiction.
But I wasn’t always this way.
I decided to write this blog about my experience with opioid addiction, in hopes that it would help someone else who is struggling. If you would’ve told me fifteen years ago that one day I’d be so addicted to opiates I’d lose everything, and I’d have said you were crazy. If you would’ve told me five years ago that I’d be entirely off opiates, sober, and running my own business, I would’ve said you were crazy then, too.
If it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone. I am responsible for my own choices, and it was my decision to start opiates in the first place. But it was also my decision to get off of them, and if I can do it, you can, too.
Keep reading if you’d like to know my story.
